Serve as a pivotal Indigenous Supports Advisor for K-8 students at the District School Board of Niagara. Focus on promoting the Kanien'kéha and Anishinaabemowin languages, enhancing student engagement and identity.
This position invites a passionate advisor dedicated to enhancing the educational experience of Indigenous students. By promoting language and culture, you will help solidify students’ sense of belonging while collaborating with staff and families to support their learning and emotional well-being. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in nurturing self-regulation and social-emotional skills.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan language-focused educational experiences for students • Support cultural engagement and identity-building efforts • Work with students to improve school participation and success • Collaborate with staff on effective well-being strategies • Aid in individual and small-group emotional support
Requirements: • Educational credential in Early Childhood or related field • Fluency in Kanien'kéha or Anishinaabemowin required • Understanding of Indigenous and child development practices • Track record of enhancing student outcomes in education • Collaboration skills in multidisciplinary environments
