This position is open to both Journeypersons or minimum 2nd year apprentice candidates.The hourly rate for his role is $30.29 start progressing to $50.48 depending on qualifications.Position SummaryThe Powerline Technician reports to the Line Supervisor and is responsible for constructing and maintaining all overhead and underground distribution lines and associated apparatus. This position will have responsibility to be on-call and must be available to respond to 24-hour emergency situations within the time mandates set out by the Ontario Energy Board and the CompanyGeneral Duties and Responsibilities:Perform all types of work related to the erection, re-arrangement,
maintenance and removal of all overhead and underground transmission and distribution power lines of all classes and voltage up to and including 27.6KVWork live voltages with live line tools and/or appropriate protective equipment on energized circuits up to and including 27KVAll aspects of underground circuits, pole line construction and maintenanceWork in close proximity to heavy traffic and high voltage equipment while operating tools and equipment: aerial boom equipment, radial boom truck, tension equipment and all hand operated toolsInspect electrical installations performed by outside contractors in adherence with Electrical Safety Authority and ERTH Power standards and all other applicable legislationMinor Tree trimming as requiredStandby on-call duty as required and as outlined in the Collective AgreementCarry out switching instructions, written or oral and apply for hold off permits when necessaryRequired QualificationsMust possess (or currently working towards) a Powerline Technician Certificate of Qualification (Minimum 2nd Year) or Interprovincial Red Seal Certification (or equivalent) and a Grade 12 High School DiplomaSuccessful completion of a Powerline Technician College Program is considered an assetValid Ontario Class DZ or AZ-Restricted Driver's License in positive standingAbility to read and interpret technical documents (e.G., drawings, switching orders, procedures) and perform accurate mathematical calculations required for field operations, including measurements, clearances, and load-related calculationsAbility to work in a physically demanding environment that includes working at heights and extreme weather conditionsERTH Power Corporation offers a competitive and comprehensive compensation package.ERTH is an equal opportunity employer.
