Join our team as a Sign Support Qualified, using your ASL proficiency to assist d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals. Focus on creative adaptations and communication empowerment.
In this supportive role, you will evaluate the individual needs of clients and provide tailored ASL support to enhance their communication abilities. Your responsibilities include conducting teaching sessions, organizing community events, and advocating for better support systems.
Creativity is key in adapting materials to ensure successful learning outcomes for all.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist individuals in effective communication
Teach ASL to clients from SDHHS
Modify learning materials based on client skills
Organize events that encourage community inclusion
Advocate for the needs of the d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Requirements:
Proficient in American Sign Language
Post-secondary education or applicable experience
Criminal Record Check for vulnerable sectors
Valid First Aid/CPR certification
Enhance communication skills and promote independence for d/Deaf individuals in this impactful Sign Support Skilled position.
