Set up, operate and monitor all department heat treat furnaces
Troubleshoot equipment and process problems and take corrective action within standard departmental procedures
Control heat treat distortion through specific heat treat processes using standard fixturing methods
Micro-schedule parts through furnace operations according to routered heat treat specifications
Optimize furnace load efficiency while minimizing furnace downtime
Move work between departmental operations, including heat treating, tempering, stress relief and annealing
Perform parts cleaning operations
Set up and operate sandblasters for pre-treatment operations
Follow departmental work instructions and perform scheduled operations
Record data in routers, IMS and other production tracking systems
Perform routine dimensional, hardness and ferromat inspections and calibrations
Inspect completed work
Train other operators as needed
Work in other departments or set up machines for other operators when required
Maintain excellent housekeeping and 5S standards
Requirements Grade 12 diploma
Demonstrated competency as Heat Treat Operator or mechanical aptitude
Ability to set up, operate and monitor heat treat furnaces
Ability to troubleshoot equipment and process problems and take corrective action
Ability to control heat treat distortion using standard fixturing methods
Ability to manually use material handling devices
Ability to perform parts cleaning operations
Ability to set up and operate sandblasters
Ability to accurately record data in routers, IMS and other production tracking systems
Ability to perform dimensional, hardness and ferromat inspections and calibrations
Ability to inspect own work
Ability to train other operators as needed
Ability to read and interpret production prints
Adequate computer skills to access production procedures
Ability to meet skill requirements in the applicable training matrix and maintain certification through the company Certified Operator Program
Ability to comply with facial-hair removal requirements for fit-testing and production requirements
Must be able to pass Canadian Controlled Goods Assessment and criminal background check
Must be compliant with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
Temporary residents/international students require a Canadian government exemption for access to export-controlled goods
Pacemakers and insulin pumps cannot enter Heat Treat areas due to magnetic interference
