Position Overview
5468796 is seeking a talented and technically skilled Architect or experienced Architectural Intern with a minimum of 3-5 years of Canadian experience in an architectural practice to join our team full-time & in person in a dynamic, creative environment. Our studio thrives on collaboration, passion, and curiosity. We take on projects of all scales and types, but our common thread is pushing boundaries, experimenting with new ideas, and delivering outstanding results no matter the budget. This role is ideal for a team-minded & technically savvy individual who wants to grow & mentor within a supportive and inspiring practice.
Responsibilities
As an Architect (or experienced Architectural Intern) at 5468796, you’ll be involved in projects from start to finish—from concept and schematic design through to construction administration. You’ll work closely with a partner or Senior Architect, gaining mentorship while developing independence in drawing production and project workflows. As you get to know us (& we get to know you and your skill set) and depending on project size, you will be part of a larger collaborative team, working through key project elements with greater autonomy and/or you will take on direct responsibility as a ‘Project Architect’ alongside a partner, principal or associate.
Qualifications
Master of Architecture (or equivalent) and a registered member or intern member (with experience) of a Canadian licensing body
Minimum 3-5 years of Canadian experience in an architectural practice
Legally able to work in Canada [permanent resident or existing work visa]
Ability to produce construction document sets either independently or under senior supervision. Working knowledge of technical detailing, building codes and zoning by-laws is an essential qualification.
Proficiency in CAD (Vectorworks an asset), Photoshop, InDesign, Pages, Numbers, and basic 3D modelling (Sketch-Up & Rhino) an asset.
Strong design and technical skills with a robust ability to clearly communicate concepts through drawings and diagrams
Solid organizational and project management skills
Excellent communication skills—verbal, written, and graphic
Team-oriented, proactive, adaptable, and eager to make things happen
Interest in design culture and the broader purpose of architecture
Ability to self-edit and embrace constructive feedback
Assets: demonstrated experience with project management & team coordination (both internal & external)
