Position Overview Mitsoh is seeking a highly operational and strategic Director of Engineering & Continuous Improvement to help build the infrastructure, systems, and operational discipline required to scale Mitsoh into a world-class food manufacturing company.
The Director of Engineering & Continuous Improvement is responsible for leading Mitsoh’s engineering strategy, capital planning, operational efficiency initiatives, and continuous improvement programs across manufacturing and operations.
This role will partner closely with operations, quality, supply chain, finance, and leadership teams to improve throughput, reduce waste, increase equipment reliability, optimize labor efficiency, and support scalable manufacturing growth while maintaining GFSI-aligned standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering & Capital Projects Lead engineering strategy and infrastructure planning to support company growth and operational scalability
Manage capital projects including equipment selection, installation, commissioning, and facility improvements
Develop and manage capital expenditure budgets and project timelines
Work with vendors, contractors, and equipment manufacturers to execute projects efficiently and cost-effectively
Support facility expansion, production line optimization, and automation initiatives
Manufacturing Optimization Improve manufacturing throughput, efficiency, uptime, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to increase productivity and reduce downtime
Optimize plant layout, material flow, and production processes
Support labor efficiency improvements and operational standardization
Continuous Improvement Lead continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing, warehousing, and operations
Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and root cause analysis methodologies where appropriate
Establish KPIs and operational reporting systems to drive accountability and performance improvement
Build a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement throughout the organization
Maintenance & Reliability Develop preventive maintenance and equipment reliability programs
Improve maintenance planning, spare parts management, and equipment lifecycle strategies
Reduce unplanned downtime and improve production continuity
Support troubleshooting and corrective action processes for operational issues
Food Safety, Compliance & Quality Support Ensure engineering and operational systems support GFSI-recognized food safety standards such as SQF, BRCGS, or equivalent
Partner with Quality Assurance to ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and regulatory requirements
Support audit readiness, corrective actions, and operational compliance initiatives
Ensure facilities and equipment meet CFIA and food manufacturing standards
Operational Data & Systems Develop operational dashboards and KPI reporting for production, maintenance, and efficiency metrics
Support ERP and manufacturing system integration projects
Improve data visibility and operational decision-making across manufacturing and supply chain operations
Cross-Functional Leadership Partner with supply chain, operations, finance, and commercial teams to align operational priorities with business growth objectives
Support production planning and capacity analysis initiatives
Lead external engineering and contractor relationships as required
Team Leadership & Development Build and lead engineering, maintenance, and continuous improvement capabilities within the organization
Develop operational SOPs, training systems, and standardized processes
Mentor team members and promote a culture of accountability, ownership, and operational excellence
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is considered an asset
8+ years of engineering and operational leadership experience within a CPG food or beverage manufacturing setting
Experience working in GFSI-certified manufacturing facilities (SQF, BRCGS, FSSC 22000, or equivalent)
Strong experience managing capital projects, manufacturing optimization, and continuous improvement programs
Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, or related operational excellence methodologies
Strong understanding of food manufacturing equipment, facility systems, and production environments
Experience working with ERP systems, operational reporting tools, and manufacturing data systems

Additional Information This role may require periodic travel to manufacturing facilities, co-manufacturers, suppliers, and operational partners.
Compensation Range: $125,000-$150,000 plus benefits.
