Assistant Superintendent

Reporting to the General Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent is responsible for on-site management of construction projects, leading and coordinating subcontractors and Bird craft labour. This role ensures safe, efficient execution of field operations in alignment with company objectives.

***Please note this role may require you to obtain Secret-level security clearance and will be based in Petawawa, Ontario

What You Will Be Working On

Provide safety leadership through the implementation of the Bird Safety Program andmonitorthe safety performance of field staff and subcontractors.

Foster positive morale byestablishingand maintaining effective working relationships with field staff and subcontractors.

Contribute to the development and refinement of the project schedule.

Identifyand advise on design deficiencies, schedule interruptions, and other project issues; collaborate with theSuperintendent andProject Manager to resolve challenges.

Monitor and evaluate subcontractor performanceregardingsafety, scope of work, and quality standards.

Ensure the quality of subcontractor workmanship and building materials.

Confirm sufficientmanpoweris available to achieve safety, schedule, and qualityobjectives.

Maintainaccuratedaily documentation, including field reports, safety inspections, and schedule updates.

What We Are Looking For

Undergraduate degree or diploma in construction management, engineering, or a trades background

Certification in First Aid/CPR, WHMIS

5+ years’ experience in the construction industrywithin the ICI field

Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle

Strong familiarity with contract administration, drawings, specifications, architectural and engineering standards, and building practices, including building codes





Goodunderstanding of mechanical and electrical installations, including commissioning and handover

Solid knowledge of construction industry practices, OBC, OSHA,and safety standards

Proficiencyin MS Word, Outlook, MS Project, Electronic Document Management Systems,andBluebeam

Strong leadership experience managing multiple disciplines, internal employees, and external sub-trades

Ability to inspire trust and instill confidence in challenging situations

Adaptability to lead andoperateeffectively in environments with frequent change

Proven ability to build andmaintainpositive relationships with diverse groups

Strong written and oral communication skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet time demands in a dynamic business environment

Capability to work within tight deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively

Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with high accuracy and attention to detail
