Learn, understand and own the end-to-end process of furniture manufacturing at scale
Translate new requirements into clear instructions and guidance for production, scheduling, inventory and operations improvement departments
Understand production, ERP and engineering requirements related to furniture manufacturing
Coordinate changes to production processes, ERP setup and products based on manufacturing and business requirements
Incorporate technical advances in manufacturing processes and materials while understanding supplier capabilities
Maintain engineering and ERP data, including item masters, bills of materials, routings, work instructions and production documentation
Review assembly layouts and suggest improvements
Coordinate engineering change implementation, including reviewing requirements, communicating impacts, supporting approvals and updating drawings, ERP data and production instructions
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary project teams to solve product issues involving function, manufacturability, technical compatibility, testing and installation
Create and maintain standard work, process documentation and training materials
Complete root cause analysis and recommend immediate and long-term changes
Assist with cost analysis, quote gathering, material-usage review and value-engineering efforts
Support post-launch validation of products, process changes and ERP updates; resolve launch issues and capture lessons learned
Liaise with third-party suppliers to source components or fabrication solutions
Participate in design reviews covering drawings, manufacturing process, capability,
efficiency and quality planning
Provide launch documentation, data and information for full production
Contribute to new processes and tools that improve development
Provide engineering expertise to other departments and support claims and warranty issues
Acquire knowledge of industry trends, standards, manufacturing, materials, technology, competitive products, engineering practices, environmental issues and sustainable design
Deliver zero defects at launch through quality planning
Requirements Mechanical or Industrial Engineering degree, diploma or equivalent experience
3-5 years engineering experience in a product design and manufacturing environment
Knowledge and experience designing for a variety of manufacturing processes and materials (i.e. sheet metal, plastic, glass, wood)
Valuable project and time management skills; experience handling multiple projects
Excellent organizational skills
Familiarity with ANSI/BIFMA standards
3D modelling and design experience using SolidWorks preferred
Experience with SolidWorks PDM preferred
Experience with ERP systems for engineering and manufacturing processes
Very good verbal and written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in diverse multidisciplinary team environments and individually with minimum supervision
Ability to attend and conduct presentations
Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
Occasional lifting of moderately heavy objects may be required
Overtime as required
May be exposed to manufacturing hazards
May be required to use PPE

Proficient in 3D modeling and design, with a strong understanding of industry standards and materials.
