Journeyman Agriculture Equipment Technician / Heavy Equipment Technician

Location: Taber, AB

Job Description:
We areseeking a highly skilled Red Seal Agriculture Equipment Technician or Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of agricultural or heavy equipment. This role requires an individual with strong technical skills, a passion for working with large machinery, and a commitment to safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Diagnose, repair, and maintain agricultural or heavy-duty equipment, including tractors, combines, loaders, excavators, and more.

Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems to identify issues and perform repairs.

Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and repairs to ensure the equipment operates at optimal efficiency.

Test and operate repaired equipment to verify repairs are successful.

Keep detailed records of service work, including parts used and hours worked on equipment.

Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.

Use specialized tools, diagnostic equipment, and technical manuals to conduct repairs.

Assist in training apprentices and provide mentorship where necessary.

Qualifications:





Red Seal Certification as an Agriculture Equipment Technician or Heavy Equipment Technician.

Minimum 4 years of experience with agricultural or heavy-duty equipment.

Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical systems.

Proficiency with diagnostic software and specialized tools.

Excellent understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain systems.

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality repairs.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced workplace.

Preferred Skills:

Basic welding and fabrication skills are an asset.

Familiarity with computerized inventory and work order systems.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment (up to 60-70 lbs).

Standing, walking, bending, and crouching for extended periods.

Ability to work in varying weather conditions as needed.
