About the Role Our client requires a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Kimberley , specializing in mining and infrastructure projects. This role involves complex analysis of soil and rock mechanics, foundation design for heavy industrial structures, and slope stability assessments crucial for the mining sector. You will provide essential technical expertise to ensure the safety and stability of operations and infrastructure within the Northern Cape . The successful candidate will be adept at handling challenging ground conditions and contributing to the successful delivery of significant projects.
Key Responsibilities Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations for mining operations and related infrastructure development.
Design foundations, excavations, tunnels, and earth structures considering complex geological conditions.
Perform advanced slope stability analysis and rock mechanics assessments for open-pit and underground mines.
Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, specifications, and risk assessments for clients.
Provide on-site geotechnical support during construction and operational phases of projects.
Collaborate with mining engineers,



structural engineers, and project managers to integrate geotechnical solutions.
Requirements Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Mining Engineering with a geotechnical focus.
Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, with a strong emphasis on mining and heavy civil infrastructure.
Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
Proficiency in specialized geotechnical and mining software (e.g., FLAC, Rocscience Suite, GEO5).
In-depth knowledge of ground behaviour, soil-structure interaction, and rock mechanics principles.
Excellent analytical skills and ability to work effectively in challenging field conditions in Kimberley .
