D-Wave is seekingan In-house Patent Agent /Patent Specialist to joinour Intellectual Property (IP) team andsupport the growth of our quantum computingresearch and development. In this role you willwork closely withinventors toidentifyvaluable innovations,draftand prosecute patentsto developthe IP portfolio, and contribute to the continued evolution of D-Wave’s IP practices. You willsupport patentstrategy,manage priorities,solve complex problems, and buildexpertisein the quantum technology landscape.

The successful candidate will be hiredas either an Intermediate, Senior, orStaffPatent Specialist, based onexpertiseanddemonstratedtechnical impact.

What you’ll do

Collaboratetoidentify, evaluate, and protect valuable innovations.

Draft and prosecutepatent applicationsacrossdiversetechnical areas.

Build strongpartnershipsacross technical teams.

Coordinate effectively with externalpatentcounsel.

Supportthegrowth,management,and continuous improvement ofD-Wave’s patentportfolio.

Provide IP guidanceandeducation to internal stakeholders.

Identifyopportunitiestoimprove IP processes.

Anticipate challenges,recommendsolutions, and escalatedwhenappropriate.

About You

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physics, Mathematics, ComputingScience, Electrical Engineering, or relatedtechnical field.

Experience drafting and prosecuting patentsbefore a Patent Office.

Registration as a Canadian Patent Agent (or equivalent certification) is an asset.

Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and sound judgment.

Clear and effective communication skills with the ability to adapt to a variety of audiences.

Robust organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and solutions-oriented mindset.

Level Expectations
Intermediate Patent Specialist
You are developingexpertiseas a patent professionalandhavea strong foundationinpatent drafting and prosecution.



You actively contribute to the team, askthoughtful questions,and seek opportunities to build your knowledge and skills. You can independently manageroutine work, collaborate effectively with others, and apply guidance to broader projects and initiatives.Typically gained through 2+ years of relevant experience.

Pay Range: $82k - $113k CAD

Senior Patent Specialist
You are an independent patent professionalwho skillfully manages general patent matters and applies sound judgment to patent drafting and prosecution. You are a strong contributor to a team, are comfortable giving and receiving feedback, and are motivated to continue building expertise in patent law and developing knowledge in quantum technology and the competitive landscape. You effectively prioritize your work-load, manage timelines, and identify and resolve challenges while contributing ideas, improvements, and guidance to others. Typically gained through 4+ years of relevant experience.

Pay Range: $98k - $134k CAD

Lead Patent Specialist
You are an experienced patent professional who has a proven history of expertly managing complex patent matters and applying strong technical and IP advancedate to patent drafting and prosecution. You are a thought leader within the team, contributing to improving IP practices and continuing to build expertise as a trusted partner, providing feedback to other and seeking growth opportunities within and outside the team. You efficiently priorities a varied workload, anticipate and develop solutions to challenging problems, and collaborate across technical and business teams to support innovation and business objectives. Typically gained through 6+ years of relevant experience.

Pay Range: $115k - $158k CAD
