We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer for a contract opportunity based in North York / Toronto.
In this role, you will provide critical cloud-native engineering and high-volume operational support, working across software engineering, cloud data platforms, and Dev
Ops practices to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable applications.
As a senior software engineer, you will bridge the gap between software development, serverless automation, and cloud data governance.
Operating within a flexible hybrid work model, you will take on key technical and operational support taskswriting clean Python code, maintaining CI/CD pipelines, automating infrastructure with AWS services, and assisting with data platform enablement.
This position is ideal for a proactive engineer with a strong operational mindset who can ramp up quickly, independently analyze systems, and collaborate effectively within Agile delivery teams.

Responsibilities Analyze, investigate, and recommend solutions to improve technical processes, enhance operational efficiency, and optimize development workflows.
Design, develop, test, and maintain cloud-native applications and automation scripts primarily using Python and Java.
Implement and manage source control workflows using Git, Bitbucket, Git
Flow, and Trunk-Based Development strategies.
Maintain, support, and enhance continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using Jenkins, Git
Lab CI/CD, and Git
Hub Actions.
Assist with cloud infrastructure automation, provisioning, and configuration management using AWS services and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools.
Develop serverless workflows, event-driven architectures,
and microservices integrations using AWS Lambda, Event
Bridge, SQS, and API Gateway.
Support data platform operations, S3 data lake ingestion, database onboarding (Postgres), and metadata/governance sync workflows.
Perform root-cause analysis, troubleshoot operational issues, analyze system logs, and implement preventive solutions.
Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, security, and adherence to established engineering standards.
Author and update technical documentation, operational runbooks, reusable frameworks, and implementation templates.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in Agile Scrum/Kanban environments using Jira and Confluence to track deliverables.
Qualifications Core Technical & Engineering Requirements Experience Level: 2 to 5 years of progressive experience in software engineering, Dev
Ops, or application development.
Primary Programming Language: Strong active development proficiency in Python. AWS Cloud Ecosystem: Hands-on experience with core AWS serverless services, including AWS Lambda, Event
Bridge, SQS, API Gateway, and S3.
Source Control & Branching: Proficiency with Git and Bitbucket utilizing contemporary branching strategies (Git
Flow or Trunk-Based Development). CI/CD Pipeline Automation: Practical experience supporting build automation and deployment pipelines using Jenkins, Git
Lab CI/CD, or Git
Hub Actions.
Agile & Collaboration Tools: Practical experience operating within Agile teams (Scrum/Kanban) using Jira and Confluence for work management.
Architecture Concepts: Solid understanding of distributed systems, REST APIs, event-driven architectures, and microservices design principles.
Education: Bachelor''s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
Preferred Assets & Specialized Skills Snowflake & Data Governance: Hands-on experience with Snowflake data warehousing, Cortex AI, dbt, and Collibra data governance integrations.
Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC): Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible,
or Cloud
Formation for environment provisioning. AWS Analytics & Data Services: Exposure to AWS Glue Catalog, Lake Formation, Athena, or Sage
Maker.
Containers & Observability: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, TDD practices, unit testing, and SRE/Platform Engineering concepts.
Soft Skills & Professional Attributes Analytical Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting capabilities with a demonstrated ability to investigate logs and solve technical problems independently.
Rapid Adaptability: Quick learner capable of hitting the ground running and delivering immediate technical productivity.
Communication & Teamwork: Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively across multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
