About the Position

We are seeking a qualified and dependable Ontario Certified Teacher to support senior-level Ontario Mathematics and Physics courses for students attending school remotely.

The students attend a local school together in person and receive daily classroom support from local teachers. The Ontario teacher delivers scheduled live Zoom sessions and provides Ontario curriculum guidance, academic feedback, assessment support and required course documentation.

This is a remote position, and all duties can be completed from home. Courses may be assigned to one teacher or divided between multiple teachers according to qualifications, subject expertise and availability.

Current Courses

The current teaching needs include:

- MDM4U – Grade 12 Mathematics of Data Management
- MHF4U – Grade 12 Advanced Functions
- MCV4U – Grade 12 Calculus and Vectors
- SPH4U – Grade 12 Physics

Candidates may apply to teach Mathematics, Physics or both subjects. Please clearly identify the courses you are qualified and prepared to teach.

Current Live Zoom Schedule

All times are in Canadian Eastern Time:

- Monday, 7:30–8:30 a.m. – MDM4U
- Tuesday, 8:30–9:30 a.m. – SPH4U
- Thursday, 9:30–10:30 a.m. – SPH4U
- Friday, 8:30–9:30 a.m. – MHF4U
- Friday, 9:30–10:30 a.m. – MCV4U

Each live session is currently scheduled once every two weeks and lasts approximately one hour. The two Friday sessions are consecutive.

The complete assignment is expected to involve up to approximately 13 hours per week after September 7. These hours may include live Zoom instruction, lesson preparation, assessment and feedback, student support, communication, course documentation and other related academic duties. Actual hours will depend on the courses assigned.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver engaging live Zoom lessons for the assigned Ontario Grade 12 Mathematics and/or Physics courses.




- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the curriculum expectations for each assigned Ontario course code.
- Prepare and maintain course outlines, unit plans, lesson plans and other required course materials.
- Develop a variety of student assessments.
- Maintain accurate records of lessons, attendance, for Live Courses
- Support course documentation and academic requirements during scheduled Ministry of Education inspections.
- Remain current with applicable Ontario curriculum requirements and Ministry of Education policies.

Prefered Qualifications

- A valid Ontario College of Teachers certificate in good standing is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario secondary school curriculum.
- Ability to teach at least one of the following courses confidently: MDM4U, MHF4U, MCV4U or SPH4U.
- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
- Strong organizational, documentation and time-management skills.
- Reliable internet access and an appropriate professional environment for online teaching.
- Availability for the fixed Canadian Eastern Time sessions assigned to the teacher.
- Experience teaching Grade 11 or Grade 12 Mathematics or Physics.
- Experience with international students or online instruction.
- Familiarity with Moodle or another learning management system.

Compensation

$40.00–$50.00 CAD per hour, based on qualifications, OCT standing, subject expertise, relevant Ontario teaching experience and assigned responsibilities.
