Capital City Emergency Veterinary Hospital in Fredericton, New Brunswick is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. As a privately owned emergency hospital and sister clinic to Port City Emergency Veterinary Hospital, we combine the strength of an established emergency network with a locally focused, independent approach to care.

Veterinary Assistants play a vital role in supporting veterinarians and veterinary technicians in a fast-paced emergency environment. In this role, you will be directly involved in urgent and life-saving care, assisting with a wide variety of emergency and critical cases. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, organized, compassionate, and able to thrive in high-stress situations. Prior emergency or clinical experience is considered an asset.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist veterinarians and technicians with emergency procedures and patient care.
- Prepare and maintain treatment areas, ensuring they remain clean, organized, and fully stocked.
- Provide excellent animal husbandry, including feeding, walking, and providing comfort to hospitalized patients.
- Handle emergency and critical patients, including those requiring immediate resuscitation or stabilization.
- Assist with diagnostic procedures, including radiographs, patient restraint and sample collection support.
- Support and communicate compassionately with pet owners during stressful situations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records within our practice management system.




- Assist with emergency surgeries as needed, including patient preparation and surgical support.
- Follow all safety protocols and infection control procedures.
- Provide reception coverage as needed, including greeting clients, answering calls, managing messages, and maintaining organized client records and appointments.

- Flexible Rotational Shift Work: 4 on / 4 off rotation covering 8am-8pm, 12pm-12am, 8pm-8am.
