About Us

For over 40 years, Camp Amicus has provided high-impact summer camp and year-round recreation experiences for neurodiverse children and teens with Learning Disabilities, ADHD, and related diagnoses. At our core, Amicus is an intentional social skill development program disguised as a summer camp. Grounded in evidence-based practices, we explicitly teach social skills in a fun, supportive workplace where youth can build confidence, form meaningful friendships alongside peers who share similar experiences, and thrive under the guidance of staff who truly understand them. It’s a place where campers grow- and where our team develops as reflective, supported leaders.

The Role

We are seeking an empathetic,

high-energy leader to work closely with the Camp Manager. This dynamic role transitions between high-impact summer leadership and flexible off-season program management.

Summer Season (May- August | Full-Time)

- Overnight Camp Leadership: Live on-site (Monday- Friday) to lead daily operations, staff performance, safety, and camper well-being for our overnight program.
- Operations & Communication: Set a positive camp tone, handle real-time problem-solving, and maintain explicit communication with parents and leadership.
- Pre-Camp Prep: Assist with hiring, staff training, and all other prep.

Off-Season (Fall- Spring | Flexible Part-Time)

- Recreation Programs: Lead a variety of evening recreation programs (sport, cooking, art, science, etc) with an associated social skill. Includes planning, facilitation, staff delegation, and parent communication.
- Prepare for Summer Camps: Review camp feedback, revamp camp programs, update curriculum based on feedback, set schedules, and assist with year-round administrative work.
- Flexible Hours & Scheduling: Ideally 20- 30 hours per week with flexibility in scheduling and workload. More or fewer hours may be possible for the right candidate, depending on availability.

This may include evenings and occasional weekends, but timing is flexible and arranged collaboratively.

Qualifications

- Education: Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, Child & Youth Studies, Recreation, or Kinesiology.
- Experience: Proven background in staff supervision, program design, and working with neurodiverse youth (LD/ADHD focus preferred).
- Certifications: Standard First Aid with CPR-C and Class 4 Driver’s License (or willingness to obtain both).
- Assets: National Lifeguard (NL) certification, Wilderness First Aid/Responder, outdoor leadership skills, or prior camp leadership experience.
