Letcar Mechanical is seeking an experienced Carpenter to join our growing team in Fort McMurray, Alberta. We are looking for either a Journeyman Carpenter or someone with 10+ years of well-rounded carpentry experience who is comfortable taking on a wide variety of commercial carpentry, renovation, installation, and maintenance work.

The ideal candidate is an all-around Carpenter with strong experience in commercial doors and hardware, finishing carpentry, cabinetry, flooring, renovations, and general maintenance. We are looking for someone who can work independently, troubleshoot on the job, and move between different types of projects as required while maintaining a high standard of workmanship and customer service.

This is primarily a town-based position in Fort McMurray, with some site work required depending on project needs.

Responsibilities

- Install and repair commercial doors, steel doors, frames, closers, and door hardware
- Complete cabinet installations
- Perform flooring installations, repairs, and refurbishment
- Perform finishing carpentry, including trim, doors, baseboards, cabinetry, and other finishing work
- Complete commercial renovation and general carpentry projects
- Complete general carpentry maintenance and repair work
- Install framing, drywall, flooring, and other carpentry components as required
- Complete minor and major drywall repairs and installations
- Perform deck construction, repairs, and exterior carpentry as required
- Perform interior and exterior painting when required
- Interpret drawings and specifications when required
- Troubleshoot repairs and determine appropriate solutions
- Meet with clients to discuss repair, maintenance, and renovation requirements
- Explain repair requirements and recommendations clearly and professionally




- Maintain an accurate inventory of tools, equipment, and materials
- Follow all company safety policies and safe work practices
- Work independently or collaboratively depending on project requirements
- Travel to site when required for specific projects

Experience

- Journeyman Carpenter certification OR 10+ years of well-rounded carpentry experience
- Strong experience with commercial doors, steel doors and frames, door closers, and hardware
- Experience with cabinetry and cabinet installations
- Experience with flooring installation and repairs
- Strong experience in renovations, finishing carpentry, commercial carpentry, and general maintenance
- Ability to work independently and complete projects with minimal supervision
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Solid attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstract
- Comfortable working outdoors and at heights when required
- Committed to maintaining a safe work environment
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test

Schedule

- Monday to Friday
- Overtime as required
- Weekends as needed
- Primarily town-based work in Fort McMurray, with some site work depending on project requirements

Pay: Up to $44.00 per hour
