We are seeking a motivated and skilled Construction/Equipment Operator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy machinery and construction equipment to ensure efficient and safe project execution. Your expertise will contribute to the successful completion of natural gas distribution pipeline construction projects, supporting our commitment to quality and safety. Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, skid steers, directional drills, picker trucks, and hydrovacs with precision and safety in mind.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance checks on all machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety standards.
- Assist with site preparation, line locating, surveying, excavation, and other construction activities as needed.
- Follow project plans and specifications accurately while adhering to safety protocols at all times.
- Coordinate with team members to execute tasks efficiently, ensuring timely project progress.
- Maintain detailed records of equipment usage, inspections, and maintenance activities.
- Support the setup and breakdown of construction sites,
including loading/unloading materials and equipment.
Skills
- Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment such as dozers (including Caterpillar), excavators, skid steers, directional drills, and hydrovacs
- Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor equipment issues quickly on-site.
- Ability to operate specialized machinery like horizontal drills and caterpillar equipment confidently.
- Valid Class 1 drivers license preferred for transporting equipment or materials.
- Knowledge of construction safety standards and best practices in heavy equipment operation.
- Preference given to individual with directional drilling experience
- Natural gas production/distribution experience considered an asset
- Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to follow detailed instructions accurately.
