AVL Landscape & Design Ltd. is looking for an experienced Hardscape Installer / Landscape Construction Labourer to join our crew.

We are looking for someone with at least 4 years of professional hardscape or landscape construction experience.

This is not an entry-level position.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with interlock, grading, base preparation, stone cutting, machinery operation, and general landscape construction.

We are looking for someone who is reliable, takes pride in their work, works well with a crew, and can handle longer days during the busy season.

Responsibilities

- Install interlock driveways, patios and walkways
- Remove and relay existing interlock
- Install pool decks and pool coping
- Build retaining walls and steps
- Install natural stone, flagstone, porcelain and precast products
- Excavation and site preparation
- Install and grade HPB and granular base
- Set proper elevations, grades and slopes
- Compact base materials
- Install edge restraints
- Install polymeric sand
- Measure and lay out projects
- Cut pavers, slabs and natural stone
- Load and unload materials and equipment
- Maintain a clean and organized jobsite
- Work around finished homes, pools and customer property safely

Required Experience

Applicants must have:

- Minimum 4 years of professional hardscape or landscape construction experience
- Interlock installation experience
- Experience with excavation and base preparation
- Understanding of grading and drainage
- Experience measuring and laying out hardscape projects
- Experience cutting pavers and stone
- Ability to work efficiently without sacrificing workmanship




- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a crew
- Reliable transportation to work
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor construction work

Equipment & Tool Experience

Experience operating several of the following is preferred:

- Skid steer / Bobcat
- Mini excavator
- Excavator
- Loader
- Quick-cut / concrete saw
- Plate compactor
- Jumping jack
- Grinder
- Laser level
- Transit
- Hand tools
- Power tools

Applicants claiming equipment experience should be able to confidently and safely operate the equipment.

Additional Experience Considered an Asset

- Pool coping installation
- Retaining-wall construction
- Natural-stone installation
- Reading landscape drawings
- Setting elevations using a laser level
- Calculating slopes
- String-line layout
- Squaring layouts
- Driving work trucks
- Towing equipment trailers

Schedule

- Full-time during the landscape construction season
- Monday to Friday
- Longer days may be required depending on projects, weather and scheduling
- Occasional weekend work may be required

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 50.0 per week
