Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions

Canada

NEW BAR OPEN

We've just opened our doors in Calgary this Summer and are looking for an experienced Restaurant Manager to help take us to the next level!

About Us

Born and bred in Vancouver’s vibrant Mount Pleasant neighbourhood, Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions has officially made the leap and expanded to Calgary!

We are a cocktail bar disguised as a postmodern thrift shop — part industrial warehouse, part breezy patio, all retro-cool. We pour an ever-rotating list of forward-thinking cocktails, fire up an Argentinian-style wood and charcoal grill, and treat hospitality like it matters. Because it does. We’re thrilled to bring our unique blend of nostalgia and high-energy hospitality to a whole new city.

The Role

We're hiring a Restaurant Manager to help lead our founding Calgary crew. You are the operational backbone of the room, a mentor to the staff, and the keeper of the vibe when the floor is packed. You know how to balance the numbers with people-first leadership. We need someone who leads by example—someone who will dive into a busy service well or clear tables alongside the team, while keeping a sharp eye on labor, guest experience, and execution. If you love the high-energy chaos of a new opening and want to help shape a unique culture, this is your spot.

What You'll Do

- Lead the Floor: Run high-volume services with confidence. Set the standard for service pacing, hospitality, and energy, keeping the front and back of house completely in sync.
- Develop the Crew: Actively train, mentor, and coach our service team (servers, hosts, runners, and apprentices). Cultivate an environment built on growth, curiosity, and zero drama.
- Own the Operations: Support the GM with people development, inventory management,

labor optimization, and maintaining strict health, safety, and liquor compliance standards.
- Cultivate Guest Loyalty: Build genuine connections with our guests, handle escalations with absolute grace, and make sure everyone leaves wanting to come back.
- Drive the Standards: Maintain the visual integrity and cleanliness of our unique space, ensuring the venue looks sharp and the music, lighting, and ambiance are always locked in.

Who You Are

- Experienced Leader: 1+ years of management or supervisory experience in a high-volume, fast-paced restaurant or cocktail-forward bar. Experience with a new location opening is a massive asset.
- Unflappable: You shine under pressure. When the waitlist is an hour long and the kitchen is slammed, you stay calm, focused, and positive.
- Operational Mindset: You understand the mechanics of a profitable floor—how to manage labor in real-time, optimize seating flow, and control costs without compromising the guest experience.
- A Master Communicator: Clear, warm, and highly effective at connecting with staff, guests, and ownership alike.
- Versatile Schedule: Full open availability, including late nights, weekends, and holidays.

Required

- Valid ProServe certification (Alberta law).
- Clean background and references supporting trusted financial and operational management.

Nice to Have

- Strong knowledge of craft cocktails, spirits, or wood-fired culinary concepts.
- Deep familiarity with modern hospitality tech: POS systems (Lightspeed, TouchBistro, Toast, Squirrel), reservation tools (SevenRooms, OpenTable, Resy), and labor management platforms.

What We Offer

- Competitive salary / hourly wage (TBD based on experience) plus a share of the house tip pool.
- A supportive leadership team and owners who actually have your back.
- 50% off your meal when you work, plus a generous staff discount on your nights off.
- Real professional growth — hands-on experience scaling a successful brand into a brand-new market.
- Comprehensive training on our systems, menu development, and operational standards.

Benefits

- Flexible schedule
- Work Location: In person
- Extended Health Benefits Package (eligible after 3 months probation)
