Bracewell Marine is a leading and growing marine service shipyard and boat builder in British Columbia. We proudly repair, repower, and build marine vessels such as fishboats, tugboats, other commercial vessels (e.g., RCMP, Prince of Whales), and private yachts up to 130 feet and 220 tonnes. Operating in the Shelter Island Marina in Richmond, BC, we are part of the extensive BC marine industry supporting the 4th largest port in North America and the logging, fishing, tourism, and pleasure craft markets.
We are looking for an Electrician to join our diverse and skilled team of electricians, welder/fabricators, woodworkers, mechanics, machinists, painters, and sandblasters. This is a dynamic electrical role supporting marine vessel repairs, building recent marine vessels, repairing machine shop equipment repair, and repairing and upgrading the facility. Marine-specific experience is ideal but not required; experienced electricians with an interest in learning the marine industry through on-the-job training are more than welcome!
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot, repair, and install new marine electrical systems:
· Vessel main power typically up to 280v 3 phase, 20kW
· Electric and hybrid vessel installations - See reference to TP 127E and ABYC Chapters E-13 and E-30 below
· Marine electronics (12 to 24vdv, 24/38v ac)
· Shore power, battery and charge systems, generators, power distribution
· Navigation controls, stabilizers, communications and lighting systems
· Conventional motor controls, hybrid and full electric drives
· Pumps, ventilation, sensors, alarms
· Full system integrations
· Electrical load calculations and conductor sizing to applicable marine standards
· Troubleshooting and megger testing
Industrial electrician support for production facilities (600V, 600amp)
· Facility upgrades, repairs, and repowering
· Machine shop,
equipment, and welding unit electrical servicing
· Facility and shipyard power feeds and service
· Crane, scissor lift, forklift, and vehicle electrical support
Safety
· Oversee lockout-tagout procedures
· Ensure Bracewell Marine remains compliant with all relevant electrical codes
· Ensure vessels are built and repaired to all industry standard electrical codes
· Perform shipyard electrical safety audits
· Everyone on the Bracewell team is responsible for:

Supporting other team members and trades
Skills & Experience
· Required: At least 5 years’ work experience and formal electrician training; Red Seal preferred
· Required: Ability to work at heights, outdoors, and in confined spaces
· Required: Team-player with a positive attitude and the ability to execute quality work safely and efficiently
· Asset: Knowledge of marine vessels/systems and associated trades
· Asset: Knowledge or familiarity with TP 1332E – Construction Standards for Small Vessels; TP 11717 – Standards for the Construction and Inspection of Small Passenger Vessels; TP 127E – Ships Electrical Standards; IEEE-45 - Recommended Practice for Electrical Installations on Shipboard; ABYC Chapters A-31, C-7, E-13 and E-30
