PRIVATE HOUSEKEEPER / HOUSEHOLD MANAGER & PERSONAL COOK

Location: East Vancouver, BC

Schedule: Approximately 4 hours per day

About the Position

I am looking for an experienced, trustworthy, organized and proactive Private Housekeeper / Household Manager & Personal Cook to take complete responsibility for the day-to-day running of my home.

This is much more than a traditional cleaning position. I am looking for someone who can manage the household independently, keep the home consistently clean and organized, take care of laundry and household tasks, and plan and prepare healthy, enjoyable meals.

The ideal person is someone who takes pride in their work, has excellent attention to detail, is a very good cook, and doesn’t need to be told what needs to be done.

Responsibilities

Household Management

- Take overall responsibility for the cleanliness, organization and smooth running of the home
- Maintain a clean, tidy and organized household at all times
- Identify household needs and take initiative to address them
- Keep track of household supplies and advise when items need to be purchased
- Organize and maintain kitchen, closets, pantry and other areas of the home
- Help coordinate occasional household services or maintenance when required

Cleaning

- Regular cleaning and upkeep of the entire home
- Kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms and living areas
- Dusting, vacuuming, mopping and general deep cleaning
- Keeping the home looking presentable and organized
- Periodic deeper cleaning of appliances, cupboards, windows and other areas as needed

Laundry & Clothing Care

- Wash, dry, fold and put away clothing and linens




- Properly care for different fabrics and clothing
- Change and maintain bedding and towels
- Keep closets and clothing areas organized

Cooking & Meal Preparation

- Plan weekly menus independently
- Prepare fresh, healthy and enjoyable meals
- Cook meals for the day and prepare meals in advance
- Prepare lunches, dinners, snacks and other food as required
- Maintain an organized and well-stocked kitchen
- Create grocery lists based on the weekly menu
- Grocery shopping and putting groceries away when required
- Be comfortable preparing a variety of cuisines
- Be able to adjust menus based on preferences, dietary needs and what is available
- Minimize food waste through thoughtful meal planning

The Ideal Candidate

You are:

- An excellent cook who genuinely enjoys preparing food
- Experienced working in private homes or as a housekeeper, household manager, private chef or similar role
- Extremely organized and detail-oriented
- Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Someone who notices what needs to be done without being asked
- Comfortable managing a home and establishing your own daily routine
- Professional, discreet and respectful of privacy
- Energetic and able to handle the physical requirements of housekeeping




- A strong communicator
- Someone who takes pride in maintaining a beautiful, clean and well-run home

What I’m Looking For

The right person will essentially become the person responsible for keeping the household running smoothly.

I don’t want someone who simply comes in, waits for instructions and cleans for four hours.

I am looking for someone who can walk into the home and think:

“What needs to be done today?”

You will have the freedom and responsibility to organize your time and prioritize the household’s needs.

Schedule

Approximately 4 hours per day, with the exact days and hours to be discussed.

The position is intended to be a consistent, ongoing role for the right person.

Compensation

Competitive hourly compensation based on experience and qualifications.

Compensation will reflect the level of cooking ability, household-management experience and overall responsibility taken on by the successful candidate.
