Scope:

Under the direct supervision of the Youth Lodge Program Manager and overall supervision of the Executive Director, the Equine Program Support is responsible to support an equine horsemanship and riding program. This position will support the daily care of animals and ensure animals are program-ready, as well as maintain health and safety standards for the stables, animals and clients.

Responsibilities:

- Work with a team to design, deliver and facilitate natural horsemanship and riding program.
- Engage youth wellness clients in a western riding program.
- Assist with stable management to ensure safe environment.
- Ensure grounds are secure due to legal requirements of Youth Lodge, i.e. sharps locked away, fuel not accessible etc.
- Assist with daily chores, i.e. mucking stalls, feeding horses (hay or grain) and water, as needed.
- Daily tasks regarding the care of horses, small animals and equipment on site.
- Provide ongoing horse handling and exercising to maintain and ensure safety.
- Operate farm machinery, as needed, i.e. tractor, atv etc.
- Other duties as required.

Qualifications:





- Must have experience working with horses.
- Must have excellent equestrian riding and handling skills.
- Experience in stable coordination an asset.
- Comfortable with small animals including goats, chickens and mini horses,
- Must have experience with youth.
- Have or willing to obtain CPR/First Aid, and other trainings as required.
- Must be willing to obtain a clear Broad Record Check.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must be able to work weekends, evenings and Statutory Holidays.

Pay: $45,000.00-$48,000.00 per year
