Job Summary
The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care and promoting the health, safety, and well-being of residents in a retirement home setting that offers both independent and assisted living. The RPN ensures that care is provided in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) standards, the Retirement Homes Act, and organizational policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide direct resident care, including medication administration, treatments, and monitoring of health conditions.
- Conduct ongoing assessments and contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans.
- Respond promptly to urgent and emergent health situations to ensure resident safety.
- Promote independence and quality of life for residents while respecting their dignity, preferences, and individual choices.
- Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, residents, and families to support holistic care.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to Personal Support Workers (PSWs) and other team members in delivering consistent, resident-focused care.




- Document care and maintain accurate, up-to-date resident records in compliance with professional and legislative requirements.
- Participate in infection control, health and safety, and quality improvement initiatives within the home.
- Support residents transitioning from independent to assisted living with sensitivity and clear communication.

Qualifications

- Current Certificate of Registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Experience in a retirement or long-term care setting preferred.
- Strong clinical skills, with sound judgment in resident care and emergency response.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build supportive relationships with residents, families, and staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative care team.
- Required shifts include rotation between days (0700-1500h), evenings (1500–2300 hrs) and nights (2300–0700 hrs).

Job Types: Part-time, Casual, Permanent

Pay: $26.00-$27.00 per hour
