Overview

Barbizon Art Academy is looking for a Part-Time Art Instructor to teach drawing and illustration classes at our Markham studio. We welcome art students, recent graduates, practicing artists, and instructors who enjoy working with children and youth.

We are looking for someone who has good drawing or illustration skills, communicates well with students, and is enthusiastic about helping young artists grow.

Duties

- Teach drawing and illustration classes for children and youth
- Demonstrate basic drawing and illustration techniques
- Guide students with proportion, perspective, shading, composition, observation, and creative development
- Provide encouraging and constructive feedback
- Help create a positive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment
- Prepare simple class materials and demonstrations
- Work with the studio team on projects, exhibitions, and seasonal programs when needed





Qualifications & Skills

- Good drawing and/or illustration skills
- A personal art portfolio is preferred
- Comfortable working with children and youth
- Patient, reliable, responsible, and friendly
- Good communication skills
- Previous teaching or tutoring experience is an asset, but not required
- Art students and recent graduates are welcome to apply

Schedule

- Part-time
- Mainly weekday evenings and weekends
- Hours may vary depending on availability and class needs
