About the Role

We're seeking a dynamic, experienced Lead Hand Fence Builder/Foreman to oversee and coordinate fencing projects out of our Sherwood Park location, covering Sherwood Park and the surrounding area, from start to finish — with minimal oversight.

This is not an entry-level position. You'll guide a team of fence builders, ensure safety, quality, and efficiency on every site, and keep jobs moving without needing to be told what to do next. If you need close supervision or step-by-step direction, this role isn't the right fit.

What You'll Do

- Lead and supervise fence installation crews, assigning tasks and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
- Build multiple types of fencing (wood/board, chain link, vinyl, farm/agricultural, ornamental/iron, privacy, etc.)
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to accurately execute projects, and work from job plans and property lines with accuracy
- Operate and oversee the use of hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment, including a skid steer and attachments (auger, grader blade, etc.)
- Coordinate with clients, suppliers, and project managers to ensure materials and timelines stay on track
- Ensure safety protocols are followed on-site, conducting regular safety inspections and toolbox talks with the crew
- Assist with estimating by reviewing project plans and providing input on material and labor needs or changes during a project
- Train, direct, and hold crew members accountable to quality and safety standards
- Troubleshoot issues on-site and make sound decisions without waiting for direction within reason.
- Represent the company professionally when speaking with clients and the public on-site




- Drive company vehicles and trailers to job sites throughout Sherwood Park and the surrounding area
- Maintain a clean, secure, and professional job site at all times

What You Must Have

- Proven, hands-on experience building fences — this is a must, not a "willing to learn" position
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a construction environment
- Experience operating skid steers and attachments (required)
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record (required — will be checked)
- Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, schematics, and construction plans accurately
- Skilled in the operation of hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment
- Solid communication skills — comfortable coordinating with clients, suppliers, crew, and the office directly
- Presentable and professional appearance and conduct on job sites at all times
- Strong problem-solving skills and good judgment on-site
- Physical ability to perform demanding outdoor manual labour in all weather conditions
- Reliable, punctual, and able to manage a crew's time and productivity

Nice to Have

- Experience with multiple fence types (chain link, wood, vinyl, iron/ornamental, agricultural)
- Gate operator installation and repair experience is a bonus
- Knowledge of construction estimating and project management fundamentals
- OHS/safety training or certifications

Pay: $30.00-$36.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 60.0 per week
