Job Objective: To support HVE’s people strategy by providing reliable and proactive Human Resources guidance across the employee lifecycle. You play an important part in ensuring HVE attracts, develops, engages and retains employees while maintaining consistent HR practices, supporting management, and ensuring compliance with applicable employment legislation and organizational policies.
Job Details
The Human Resources professional plays a key role in HVE’s overall success by supporting employees and management across all aspects of the employee lifecycle. A successful candidate will enjoy working in a dynamic environment where they can balance day-to-day HR operations with employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, policy development and employee engagement.
What You’ll Bring
- University Degree in Human Resources or in related field
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Leader (CHRL) designation preferred
- Minimum 4 years’ experience as an HR skilled
- Experience resolving employee relations issues and maintaining employee files
- Experience utilizing and maintaining an HRIS system
- Ability to be creative and find ways to build up a positive company culture
- Experience advising on human resources legislation such as the Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations
- Able to identify opportunities to improve procedures and influence others
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee and conduct the onboarding of new employees focusing on creating a smooth and positive first experience for incoming staff
- Partner with management on recruitment needs, ensure job descriptions are up to date, post job openings both internally and externally, screen resumes, schedule and attend interviews, create and send out offer letters
- Oversee mandatory trainings, track and follow up with staff that have not completed assigned training, ensure HVE is in compliance with all legislative training requirements
- Be the subject matter expert and support management on employee conflicts, performance concerns or if required, progressive discipline, demotions and terminations
- Stay informed and up to date on all required HR policies, maintain and update Employee Handbook, create and adjust company policies as required
- Develop and lead initiatives regarding company culture including initiatives around employee engagement, recognition, employee satisfaction and wellness. Develop ideas and execute plans to keep these programs running and perpetuate a positive company experience
- Partner with the Finance department to ensure employee timesheets, pay changes, time off requests are submitted and processed correctly
- Be the subject matter expert for the human resources information system (HRIS). Liaise with software provider in regard to any software performance issues, company needs, and software improvements
- Management of all HR issues such as leave of absences, sick leaves, performance issues, promotions, employment status changes, requests for employee verification letters, etc.
- Provide advice and guidance to the Executives and Management regarding HR legislation, the ESA (Employment Standards Act) requirements, Human Rights concerns and all requirements per the OHSA (Occupational Health & Safety Act)
- Other HR duties as prescribed
What We Offer
- $60,000 to $70,000 per annum (commensurate with experience)

Reports To: General Manager
Hours: 8am-5pm/8:30am-5:30pm/9am-6pm
Breaks: 1-hour unpaid lunch
