Automotive Mechanic – Job Description

Position Title: Automotive Mechanic
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor
Location: Vanderhoof

Position Summary

The Automotive Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining light-duty vehicles to ensure safe and efficient operation. This role supports company operations by maintaining service trucks, pickups, and passenger vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on light-duty vehicles
- Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, brake repairs, tire services, and inspections
- Repair or replace engines, transmissions, suspension, steering, and exhaust systems
- Use diagnostic tools to identify faults and recommend repairs
- Maintain accurate service records and inspection reports
- Follow safety standards and manufacturer repair procedures
- Keep tools, shop, and work areas clean and organized
- Communicate repair needs and timelines clearly with supervisors

Qualifications & Experience

- Red Seal Automotive Service Technician (or equivalent) preferred




- Minimum 1 year's experience as an automotive mechanic
- Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s licence
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship

Assets

- Experience maintaining fleet vehicles
- Class 3 licence
- Experience working in industrial or remote environments

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $25.00-$48.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
