Job Description – Maintenance Technician

Reports to: Production Manager

Time: 8-Hour Shift, Monday to Friday, Evenings

Regular Duties:

- Assist the production supervisor with equipment breakdowns in a timely and accurate fashion to keep the production lines running 24/7
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment problems in all areas.
- Ensure Preventative Maintenance (PM) is completed on all equipment when scheduled, while minimizing down time to production.
- Maintain the building(s) and associated systems.
- Demonstrate creative problem solving while working with minimal supervision.
- Exhibit continuous improvement principles in daily activities.
- Maintain paperwork including daily work logs, equipment updates and component records.
- Use the ERP system to prepare requisition orders for supplies and repairs as required.
- Maintain an inventory of maintenance parts, using the ERP system.
- Read and/or produce blueprints, drawings and schematics as required.
- Attend all regular crew and safety meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by production supervisor or manager.
- Follow the company handbook and all other policies.
- Follow Maintenance Technician responsibilities for health and safety

Ø Assist the JHSC Committee as required.





Ø Report safety infractions in the health and safety log book.

Ø Inform the supervisor in a timely manner of health and safety issues where their assistance may be required.

Ø Recognize the recommendation that all heavy lifts (generally in excess of 40 lbs) are performed as team lifts.

Ø Ensure that failure by any worker to comply with the health and safety legislation and our policies and procedures will be met with a suitable process of progressive re-enforcement with the support of management.

Ø Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of the workers.

Ø Report all safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.

Skills and Training Requirements

- OSSD Diploma (Grade 12)
- 5 Years experience in General Equipment repair with strong emphasis in hydraulics, PLC’s, pneumatics and electronics
- WHIMIS Training
- Mechanical and/or electrical certifications
- Fluent in English (reading and writing)
- Basic Computer skills
- Excellent mathematical skills

Ongoing Training Requirements

- Attendance at monthly Safety meetings
- Forklift Driver’s License
- ERP proficiency
- Upgrade courses as required.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $32.00 per hour

- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)

Experience:

- Mechanical knowledge: 3 years (preferred)
- Extrusion: 1 year (preferred)

- Drivers License (preferred)
