Carmel Transport International LTD is one of the largest container drayage Provider We handle ocean/intermodal containers. We deal with full container loads that are imported/exported. This is a fast paced business. We work based on the terminals’ schedules (CN/CP rail); they determine how fast/slow containers come in on rail. Our office is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 364 days of the year (closed on Christmas Day)

Dispatch Position

The dispatcher’s role within Carmel Transport is to manage drivers throughout the work day. Working in teams,dispatchers are tasked with giving each available driver their next respective dispatch, based logistically on where they are and where the next most strategic pickup is.

This includes, but is not limited to:

- Answering/Managing driver emails and phone calls
- Making sure all applicable info is attached to driver and work order (chassis number, container number etc.)
- Working in tandem with the customer service team members
- Notifying respective customer service team member(s)



if their container will be late to their respective client (proactive customer service)
- Booking/Modifying Reservations with CN’s system when necessary
- Submitting rail billing to Steamship Lines for Export Containers and Damaged Containers
- Managing Chassis Equipment Inventory
- Communicating to mechanics, management and Safety department applicable info when required. Communication is very key to the success of Carmel’s operations and the dispatcher
- Understanding the different “free time periods” each Steamship Line provides. Based on this info, doing your absolute best to return all empty containers to the proper empty depot within the “free time period”.

Other Important Notes:

- Must be able to work well under pressure
- Must be organized
- Weekend as needed

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
