Front of House Staff – Indian RestaurantJob Overview

We are seeking energetic, friendly, and customer-focused Front of House Staff to join our Indian restaurant team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a welcoming dining experience and providing excellent service to our guests.

You will greet customers, take and serve orders, process payments, maintain cleanliness, and work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth restaurant operations. You will also become familiar with our Indian menu and be able to answer customer questions about dishes, ingredients, spice levels, and dietary preferences.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Greet customers warmly and provide friendly and attentive service throughout their visit
- Take customer orders accurately using the restaurant's POS system
- Explain menu items, Indian dishes, ingredients, spice levels, and preparation methods when needed
- Make recommendations and upsell menu items, appetizers, beverages, desserts, and specialty dishes
- Ensure orders are communicated accurately to the kitchen and served promptly
- Serve food and beverages while maintaining professional and courteous service
- Handle cash, debit, credit, and other payment transactions accurately
- Process payments and provide correct change when required
- Assist with take-out and delivery orders, ensuring orders are complete and properly packaged
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining areas, tables, counters, and service stations
- Set and clear tables and ensure the dining area is ready for incoming guests
- Monitor customer needs and respond promptly to requests or concerns
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to manage wait times and ensure smooth service




- Assist with basic food preparation or other restaurant tasks when required
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures
- Work as part of a team to maintain an efficient and positive restaurant environment
- Perform opening and closing duties as assigned

Requirements

- Previous restaurant, food service, hospitality, or customer service experience is preferred
- Experience working in an Indian restaurant is considered an asset
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Positive, friendly, and qualified attitude
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities during busy periods
- Basic math skills and accuracy when handling cash and processing payments
- Familiarity with POS systems is an asset
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices is an asset
- Ability to learn and explain Indian menu items and ingredients
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Reliable, punctual, and willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods during shifts
