Venera Immigration Services Inc. is expanding our refugee practice and is looking for an experienced Immigration Caseworker with hands-on experience in refugee claims, RPD proceedings and PRRA matters.

This is not a general immigration processing position. We are looking for someone who understands refugee files, credibility issues, evidence preparation and hearing preparation.

Responsibilities

- Prepare and review Basis of Claim forms and narratives
- Conduct detailed refugee claimant interviews
- Prepare chronological timelines
- Identify inconsistencies, omissions and credibility concerns
- Prepare BOC amendments
- Prepare documentary disclosure for the RPD
- Assist with late disclosure matters
- Prepare affidavits and statutory declarations
- Prepare PRRA applications and supporting evidence
- Review RPD hearing notices and procedural correspondence
- Assist with Minister's Intervention matters
- Review previous TRV, study permit and immigration applications for inconsistencies
- Conduct country condition and NDP research
- Assist with Internal Flight Alternative analysis




- Assist with state protection and forward-looking risk analysis
- Prepare hearing questions and mock hearing materials
- Assist counsel with RPD hearing preparation
- Assist with written and post-hearing submissions
- Monitor strict RPD and PRRA deadlines

Requirements

- Previous experience handling refugee protection matters
- Experience preparing BOC forms and narratives
- Understanding of RPD proceedings
- Familiarity with IRPA sections 96 and 97
- Strong understanding of credibility and IFA issues
- Excellent attention to dates, facts and evidence
- Strong client interviewing skills
- Strong English drafting skills
- Ability to review large files and identify inconsistencies
- Ability to work under strict deadlines
- Solid organizational skills

Experience with RAD appeals, Minister's Intervention, Federal Court matters or complex PRRA files is a strong asset.

Language: English required. Hindi and/or Punjabi is a strong asset.
