Behaviour Interventionist (BI) – Overview

Join our dedicated team as a Behaviour Interventionist and make a meaningful difference in the life of a child with developmental and behavioural needs. You will work directly with the child to implement individualized behaviour intervention programs, support communication and daily living skills, and promote independence and positive social interactions.

The family primarily speaks English and comes from Spanish and Chinese backgrounds. The child has a strong interest in Chinese culture and Mandarin, so a Mandarin-speaking candidate would be considered an asset and may help support the child’s interests, engagement, and learning. Mandarin fluency is not required.

We are looking for someone who is respectful, culturally sensitive, patient, and comfortable working collaboratively with the child and family while respecting their diverse cultural backgrounds, interests, and values.

A BCBA is part of the clinical team and will provide ongoing supervision, training, and support to ensure programs are implemented consistently and effectively.

Duties

- Implement individualized, evidence-based behaviour intervention programs under BCBA supervision
- Support communication, social skills, play, daily living skills, and independence
- Assist with toilet training and other adaptive skill development as appropriate
- Collect accurate data on program targets and behaviour
- Follow behaviour intervention plans and teaching procedures consistently
- Build a positive, trusting relationship with the child and family
- Communicate regularly with the BCBA and family regarding progress and concerns
- Participate in training, supervision, and team meetings as needed
- Maintain professional session notes and documentation
- Provide a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for the child




- Respect the family’s diverse cultural backgrounds, values, and home environment
- Incorporate the child’s interests, including Chinese culture and Mandarin, into learning and engagement opportunities when appropriate

Qualifications

- Previous experience working with adolescent , particularly children with developmental disabilities or autism, is preferred
- Experience in ABA or behavioural intervention
- Strong communication, reliability, patience, and willingness to learn
- Comfortable working in a home-based setting
- Able to follow individualized programs and collect data accurately
- Mandarin-speaking ability is an asset, particularly for supporting the child’s strong interest in Mandarin and Chinese culture
- Demonstrates cultural awareness and respect when working with families from diverse backgrounds
- Willingness to receive ongoing supervision and feedback from a BCBA

We are looking for a compassionate, dependable, and culturally sensitive BI who can become a positive part of the child’s support team and build a strong relationship with both the child and family. A candidate who speaks Mandarin and has an interest in Chinese culture would be a particularly valuable fit, although Mandarin is not required.

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
