Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Manager to lead our team in the Meat department and ensure the smooth operation of our department. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a background in retail management, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. As an Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations including cleanliness and sanitation, managing staff, and driving sales performance while maintaining high standards of inventory control and merchandising.

Responsibilities

- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of department staff to ensure effective operations.
- Train and develop team members through effective employee orientation and ongoing training programs.
- Manage inventory control processes, including ordering, stocking, and merchandising products to maximize sales. Manager will conduct inventory counts periodically to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Conduct interviews and participate in the recruiting process to build a strong team.
- Implement effective pricing strategies and promotional activities to drive sales growth.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations including cleanliness and sanitation.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing customer inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
- Utilize retail math to analyze sales data and make informed decisions regarding inventory management.
- Foster a positive work environment by promoting teamwork,



communication, and employee engagement.

Qualifications

- 1 year experience working within a retail grocery store meat and/or seafood department with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Completion of a 2 year Business Management course.
- Food Handling Permit (current)
- Must reside in Fort McMurray, AB to apply.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. English is required.
- Knowledge of budgeting practices and financial management principles within a retail context.
- Experience in training & development, employee performance evaluation, and team management.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence others positively.
- Proficiency in administrative tasks including scheduling, reporting, and inventory management systems.
