Seek an understanding of, and implement the educational and spiritual philosophy and procedures of the local school
- Instruct children in assigned subjects, direct and guide students' learning throughout the day, and adjust instructional level to meet individual student needs
- Attend to related professional duties, including but not limited to: planning lessons, preparing materials, helping individual students, reading professional literature, serving on diocesan staff committees, attending regularly scheduled faculty meetings and conferring with the principal on instructional and disciplinary problems
- Participate in all faculty meetings and prescribed in‑service training opportunities
- Attend teacher institutes as stipulated by the school and the Catholic Schools Office
- Complete Catholic Identity Formation Training and other required professional development from the Diocese of Joliet
- Join with the other staff members in supervising the children and maintaining discipline on the premises before,
during and after school
- Secure the approval of the principal for key communications with parents concerning school matters
- Encourage responsibility on the part of students in their conduct and behavior with each other and with others outside the school community
- Contribute to the nurturing and advancement of the physical, mental, and spiritual well‑being of the students
- Work together with parents to assist them in their role as primary educators of their children
- Consistently communicate with and/or meet with parents regarding student progress in school; school administration, pastor, parish priests, colleagues, students, parents, and prospective parents;
Education and Experience Holds a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education or a related discipline that is applicable to the teaching assignment.
Practicing
Catholic preferred but is required to teach religion or theology courses.
