Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, the Accountant supports month-end and year-end close activities, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analysis. This role ensures accounting transactions are appropriately recorded and supported in accordance with applicable accounting standards, company policies, and established financial controls. Working closely with the Financial Reporting team and other areas of Finance, the Accountant supports financial statement preparation, audit requirements, internal controls, and process improvements.

The role provides exposure to a broad range of accounting activities and the opportunity to further develop technical accounting knowledge while progressing toward a CPA designation. This is an on-site position based at our Edmonton, AB (YEG) office. Prepare account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and working papers in accordance with internal and audit requirements.

Support IFRS 16 lease accounting, lease-related transactions, maintenance reserve accounting, and fixed asset accounting. Review and analyze financial transactions to ensure appropriate coding and recording in the general ledger, including intercompany transactions and elimination entries required for consolidated financial reporting. Support the preparation of internal financial statements, variance analysis,



and related commentary.

Investigate and resolve account discrepancies, unreconciled balances, and other accounting issues. Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, working papers, and responses to audit inquiries. Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, applicable accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.

Prepare accounting memos, technical documentation, process narratives, and documented procedures to support financial reporting, audit requirements, and internal controls. Identify and support process improvements that strengthen financial reporting, accounting processes, and operational efficiency. Support the implementation and enhancement of financial systems, reporting tools, and accounting processes.

Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of financial data and sensitive information. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Aviation, Public Policy, or a related field is preferred.

Minimum of three (3) to six (6) years of progressive accounting experience within public practice, industry, or a combination of both. Demonstrated experience supporting month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and working papers. Working knowledge of IFRS and experience applying accounting principles to financial transactions and reporting.

Experience with general ledger accounting, financial statement preparation,



and variance analysis. Exposure to internal and external audit processes, internal controls, and audit documentation is considered an asset.

Experience with lease accounting, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, or consolidated financial reporting is considered an asset.

Experience within a structured, regulated, or compliance-driven environment is considered an asset. Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, financial reporting processes, reconciliations, and accounting controls. Ability to analyze financial transactions, investigate discrepancies, and resolve accounting issues effectively. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Proficiency with ERP and accounting systems;

experience with NetSuite is considered an asset. Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare clear accounting documentation and collaborate across teams. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative Finance environment.
