Position: Part-Time Temporary - Long Term Care (Summerland Seniors Village - Summerland, BC) Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 8:30am-1:30pm – 3 on and 4 off rotation At West Coast SeniorsHousing Management, we see our communities as a family and we are equallycommitted to our residents and our staff. The Recreation

Aide reports to the Therapeutic Recreation Manager/ RecreationManager or designate. This role assists in planning, implementing andevaluating activity programs to meet the holistic needs and interests of personsserved, while maintaining the rights of residents and ensuring they are treatedwith respect and dignity. Assistsin the development of recreation and leisure services including programresearch development, implementation and evaluation.

Promotes,publicizes and carries out established recreation programs such as outings,exercises, crafts, social events,



entertainment, games. Assistsin the completion and posting of monthly calendars and newsletters outliningprograms and services available to residents/tenants and families. Coordinatesexternal groups to provide in-house programs.

Observes, documents and reportsany changes in residents to the supervisor and/or nurse. Maintains a safe environment for residents, family and staff, through: Utilizinginfection control procedures Maintains appropriatedocumentation as per policy and procedures, confidentiality and security. Actively participates inorientation of new staff, community programs, meetings, committees andeducational in-services.

Assists with orientation of newresidents and encourages residents to participate or volunteer in their owncommunity. Previousexperience in a senior’s focused workplace an asset. Dementiacourse an asset.
