Overview

Veritas Tutoring Academy is expanding its commitment to accessible and individualized education through the development of specialized academic support for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

We are seeking a Bilingual Deaf & Hard-of-Hearing Education Specialist / Tutor who is passionate about helping students succeed academically while ensuring that communication and accessibility needs are fully respected.

The successful candidate will provide individualized tutoring in English and French, either online or in person within the Greater Montreal area, and adapt lessons according to each student's academic level, communication preferences, strengths, and learning needs. Proficiency in LSQ (Langue des signes québécoise) and/or ASL (American Sign Language) is strongly valued.

Depending on experience and qualifications, the specialist may support students in subjects such as Mathematics, French, English, Science, History, homework assistance, study skills, and examination preparation.

This position also represents an opportunity to contribute to the development of a growing specialized initiative within Veritas Tutoring Academy. We are looking for someone who can bring knowledge, experience, creativity, and a genuine understanding of Deaf and hard-of-hearing education to help us establish an accessible learning environment built around each student.

Our objective is simple: communication barriers should never prevent a student from receiving excellent academic support.

Required Qualifications

- Strong proficiency in English and French, both written and spoken
- Experience working with Deaf and/or hard-of-hearing students in an educational, tutoring, mentoring, or youth-support setting
- Ability to adapt teaching methods and academic materials to accommodate different communication and learning needs
- Strong understanding of visual and individualized approaches to instruction
- Excellent communication, organization, patience, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide professional online and/or in-person tutoring




- Ability to establish a supportive, respectful, and academically focused learning environment
- Dependable, professional, and committed to maintaining student confidentiality and Veritas Tutoring Academy standards

Strongly Preferred

- Proficiency or fluency in LSQ (Langue des signes québécoise) and/or ASL (American Sign Language)
- Degree, diploma, certificate, or current studies in Education, Special Education, Deaf Education, Educational Psychology, Child Studies, Social Sciences, or another relevant field
- Previous teaching or tutoring experience with elementary, secondary, CEGEP, or post-secondary students
- Familiarity with the Quebec education system and curriculum
- Experience developing or adapting visual learning materials
- Knowledge of accessibility practices and accommodations commonly used by Deaf and hard-of-hearing learners
- Experience supporting students with homework, examinations, study strategies, organization, and academic skill development

Additional Assets

- Experience working with both francophone and anglophone Deaf/HoH students
- Ability to tutor multiple academic subjects
- Experience collaborating with parents, teachers, interpreters, or other educational professionals
- Experience with assistive or accessibility technologies used by Deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Interest in contributing to the continued development of Veritas Tutoring Academy's specialized accessible-learning services
