The Material Handler is responsible for supporting the efficient flow, preparation, and staging of materials throughout the Break & Shear department. This position assists with material preparation, laser operations, pre-assembly, and general department activities to ensure materials are ready for fabrication and production requirements are met safely and efficiently. Operate sanding equipment to prepare materials as required for fabrication.
Assist with loading and unloading materials and parts from laser tables. Measure and pre-cut linear metal and other materials according to production requirements. Stage and organize materials required for upcoming fabrication and welding activities.
Pre-assemble components and materials for Welders to support efficient production flow. Move and handle raw materials, work-in-progress, and completed components throughout the department. Verify materials and components against work orders, drawings, cut lists, or other production documentation as required.
Maintain organized material storage and work areas to support efficient workflow and inventory control. Identify and report damaged materials, equipment concerns, quality issues, or material shortages to the appropriate supervisor. Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with company housekeeping and safety standards.
Previous experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, warehouse, or material handling environment is an asset.
Experience working with metal products and fabrication equipment is an asset. Ability to safely operate or learn to operate sanding, cutting, and material handling equipment. Robust attention to detail and commitment to quality.
