Chief Operating Officer – Multi-Branch Operations

Columbia Ice is an established and growing Vancouver Island water-services company with operations in Courtenay, Duncan and Campbell River. We provide bottled and bulk water delivery, commercial and residential water supply, cooler services, cistern cleaning and related services to customers across the Island.

The Role

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Operating Officer will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, with company-wide accountability for operational performance across Courtenay, Duncan and Campbell River.

The COO will lead through branch and operational managers , creating alignment, accountability and consistency across the organization. This executive will translate approved strategy into measurable results by strengthening management capability, modernizing operating systems, improving KPI and reporting disciplines, and coordinating workforce, fleet and capacity planning.

The successful candidate will have significant influence over how Columbia Ice operates, develops and grows, helping build a more integrated, efficient and scalable multi-branch organization while supporting expansion in bulk water, cistern cleaning, commercial water services and other approved growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities





- Provide executive leadership and operational accountability across all three branches through branch and operational managers.
- Establish company-wide operating priorities, policies, accountability structures and performance expectations.
- Translate CEO-approved strategy into practical operating plans, clear ownership, milestones and measurable outcomes.
- Lead, coach and develop branch and operational managers, including succession planning and management-capacity development.
- Build and maintain company-wide and branch-level KPIs, dashboards and management reporting.
- Use operational data and business insight to improve performance and support executive decision-making.
- Allocate operational resources and contribute to budgeting, investment, workforce and capacity decisions.
- Lead the business-side modernization of operational, management and reporting systems.
- Oversee fleet, route, distribution and operational-capacity planning.
- Strengthen North Island operations and support growth in bulk water, cistern cleaning, commercial water services and other approved initiatives.
- Improve efficiency, consistency, service quality and scalability across Courtenay, Duncan and Campbell River.
- Identify and manage operational, workforce, fleet, systems and business-continuity risks.
- Represent Columbia Ice with suppliers, technology providers, professional advisers and commercial partners as delegated by the CEO.
- Promote accountability, continuous improvement, collaboration and disciplined execution.

Qualifications

- University degree or college diploma in business administration, commerce, operations, logistics or a related discipline.




- Minimum 5 years of progressive management experience in production, distribution, logistics, transportation, utilities, field services or a comparable operational environment.
- Demonstrated success leading through managers or supervisors in a multi-department, multi-location or complex operating environment.
- Experience establishing accountability systems, performance standards, KPIs and management reporting.
- Experience with budgeting, resource allocation, workforce planning and operational-capacity management.
- Experience developing managers, strengthening leadership teams and supporting succession planning.
- Experience leading process improvement and operational technology or business-system implementation.
- Strong strategic, analytical, communication and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated ability to translate organizational strategy into effective operational execution through management teams.
- Ability to travel between Columbia Ice locations on Vancouver Island as required.

Experience in water services, beverage production or distribution, route-based delivery, logistics, utilities or comparable field-service operations is an asset.

Compensation and Benefits

- $115,000–$120,000 annual salary.
- Permanent, full-time position, 40 hours per week.
- Three-month probationary period.
