Child and Youth Care Worker- Bouctouche

Mi’gmaq Child and Family Services of New Brunswick Inc. (MCFSNB) is seeking an individual to join their team as Child and Youth Care Worker in Bouctouche .

The Child and Youth Care Worker supports and enhances the lives of children, youth and their families through the provision of a broad range of youth wellness programs, activities, and support services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate educational, recreational, cultural, and land-based programs that promote youth development, wellness, and life skills.
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of youth during all program activities, outings, field trips, and community events.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with youth while promoting their emotional, social, cultural, and life skills development.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and culturally respectful environment that incorporates Mi'gmaq culture, traditions, and language.
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, community partners, and internal staff to support youth well-being and program success.
- Recognize and respond to the individual strengths and needs of youth using positive behaviour supports, de-escalation techniques, and crisis intervention when required.
- Observe, document, and report concerns related to youth safety, well-being, and program activities in accordance with organizational policies and reporting requirements.
- Plan and facilitate community events, evening programs, and youth engagement activities.
- Prepare nutritious meals and maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary program environment.
- Complete required documentation, maintain accurate program records,



and perform administrative duties.
- Promote programs through community partnerships, social media, and other communication channels.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs to support continuous improvement.
- Support youth in developing communication, problem-solving, decision-making, goal-setting, and independent living skills.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and compliance with organizational policies and ethical standards.
- Performs other related duties to support the program and team.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

- Child and Youth Care, Early Childhood Education, Human Services Practitioner, Social Service Community Worker, Degree in Social Sciences, High School Diploma;
- Knowledge of issues and challenges facing indigenous youth;
- An equivalent combination of education and extensive directly related experience may be considered where appropriate;
- Solid understanding of Mi’gmaq culture, values, traditions, and socio-economic conditions.

OTHER REQUIRED TRAINING, CERTIFICATION AND/OR CONDITIONS:

- A current Criminal Record Check as required under law to work with the vulnerable sector
- Prior contact check with the Department of Social Development
- Possession of a valid New Brunswick class 5 driver’s license
- The ability to qualify for insurance as required in the transportation of clients;
- The ability and commitment to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, when required.

Preference will be given to qualified Indigenous Candidates.

SALARY:

$905.60- $1,206.40 weekly as well as competitive pension and benefit programs.

BENEFITS:

- Health and dental benefits: employer pays 80% and employee pays 20%
- Maternity top-up is up to 95%
