Child and Youth Worker (Non-RegulatedSchool Mental Health Professional)
Position Summary : Childand Youth Workers work closely with students, teachers, administration,parents/guardians and community partners to support the social, emotional andbehavioural needs of individual and/or groups of students.

Qualifications
- Child and Youth Worker diploma, or a SocialService Worker diploma and is registered with the Ontario College ofSocial Workers and Social Service Workers
- Training and experience in education,behavioural intervention, and positive social interactions.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist students, families, educators, and thecommunity to attain knowledge and skills to address mental health andwell-being.
- Establish and maintain links with keycommunity partners while maintaining a current list of professionalservices available in the community.
- Collaborate with the school and communitypartners to facilitate evidence-based mental health and well-beingpromotion/prevention programs.
- Screen and assess students referred for mentalhealth support services and make recommendations for appropriate supports.
- Negotiate and collaborate with students,families, educators, and community partners to develop goal directedinterventions that honor individual, cultural, and situational diversity.
- Monitor student progress and review goaldirected interventions as needed.
- In consultation with school administration,communicate program and progress to parents or guardians of minors.
- Maintain accurate and timely records ofindividual and group support and communicate student progress regularly toschool administrators, educators, families, and community partners.
- Provide intervention, liaison and monitoringservices that triangulate the students with the school and communityservice agencies; and
- Promote the development of social emotionallearning strategies.
Compensation: $33.06to $36.51 per hour, plus vacation pay as per the current OSSTF-PSSP CollectiveAgreement.
