Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 1 commercial trucks, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment, adhering to proper safety procedures
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues
- Secure cargo properly to prevent shifting or damage during transit
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, freight documentation, and delivery schedules
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and clients to coordinate pickups and deliveries
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to keep vehicles in optimal condition
Experience
- Proven experience operating Class 1 commercial vehicles in a fast-paced environment
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with clean driving record
- Hands-on experience with forklift operation and freight handling equipment
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and basic automotive repair techniques
- Familiarity with safety protocols related to heavy vehicle operation and freight transportation
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to follow detailed instructions
