The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a highly autonomous, advanced practice clinician who collaborates closely with Cardiologists, Registered Nurses, Nurse Navigators, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care across the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Electrophysiology Lab, Device Clinic, and Cardiac Sciences Holding & Recovery (CSHR) at the Mazankowski Heart Institute.With primary clinical responsibilities in Cardiac Sciences Holding & Recovery, the NP plays a critical role in the assessment, optimization, and longitudinal management of both adult and pediatric patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. The NP ensures continuity of care across the procedural pathway, including pre-procedural evaluation, post-procedural recovery, discharge planning, and follow-up coordination.A strong emphasis is placed on quality improvement, standardization of care, and the development, implementation, and evaluation of best practice guidelines within the procedural and recovery environments.Reporting to the Patient Care Manager for the Cardiac Cath Lab, Electrophysiology Lab, and CSHR, the NP works in close partnership with the Clinical Nurse Educator and Unit Managers to advance professional practice, support staff development, and promote a culture of continuous quality improvement and excellence in care delivery.The NP also contributes to program development, system optimization, and interdisciplinary collaboration, ensuring that care delivery aligns with organizational priorities, regulatory standards, and patient-centered outcomes across the cardiac procedural continuum. you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan.

You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems.PLEASE NOTE: This position is unionized and represented by the Alberta Union of Nurse Practitioners (AUNP).
