Cloud Architect (Contract) – Ottawa

Hybrid (3 days onsite)

Hourly Rate: $140 -150/hour A financial institution in Ottawa is seeking a senior Solution/Cloud Architect to design and guide delivery of cloud‑native, container‑based, and enterprise‑scale solutions. This role supports architecture governance, technical assessments, and cross‑functional collaboration across engineering, security, infrastructure, and operations teams.

Key Requirements

- Education
- Degree or diploma in computer science or related field.
- Experience
- 10+ years in IT within complex enterprise environments.
- 5+ years in Solution Architecture .
- 5+ years architecting cloud‑native and container‑based solutions using Azure , OpenShift , or AKS .
- Solid background in Azure IaaS , networking, security, workload portability, and cloud deployment models.
- Experience designing high‑availability , multi‑region , and multi‑cloud architectures (Availability Zones, Site Recovery, Well‑Architected Framework).
- Demonstrated application of FinOps , cost optimization, governance, and risk management.




- Full SDLC support and ability to resolve complex technical risks and dependencies.
- Technical Skills
- Expertise in enterprise solution architecture , governance, assessments, documentation, and ADRs .
- Deep knowledge of security , networking , resiliency , DR , observability , and cloud infrastructure for mission‑critical workloads.

Responsibilities

- Lead architecture design for cloud‑native and container‑based solutions.
- Provide guidance on Azure infrastructure, security, networking, and workload migration.
- Ensure solutions meet enterprise standards for resiliency, scalability, and operational supportability.
- Collaborate across engineering, security, infrastructure, and operations teams.
- Support testing for production readiness, performance, failover, vulnerabilities, and DR.
- Identify architectural gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Contribute to governance, documentation, and Architecture Decision Records .
- Recommend automation and modernization strategies.
