This role is based at our Revelstoke Generating Station in Revelstoke, British Columbia. The successful candidate will support BC Hydro’s Revelstoke 6 Project (REV6) as part of the REV6 Site Engineering team, working under the direct supervision of a professional engineer throughout their rotation.
The Site Engineering team helps develop and oversee all technical aspects of field engineering including plans,
construction schedules, procedures, and construction methods and systems on high complexity and large construction projects. Our team works with contractors to assure contract compliance and the application of accepted construction methodology,
and to address non-compliance in the field by bringing design and construction people together. We work closely with design offices and project engineering teams to get this done, completing field review as their delegates to assure that design intent is met.
- Work with construction managers, officers, and contractors to proactively identify and manage technical construction
issues, non-conformances, and design issues and get quick resolution.
- Develop an understanding of construction methods/sequencing to assist with proactively anticipating and identifying
contractor interfaces and/or related construction risks.
- Develop a strong understanding of each contract’s scope, specifications, Issued for Construction Drawings, Inspection
and Test Plans, and contractor-prepared drawings/submittals.
- Assist with tracking, reviewing, and closing deficiencies, including field verification of deficiency scope, monitoring
rectification activities performed by trades or contractors, and preparation of closure evidence.
- At the end of the co-op term, the students will have excellent first-hand knowledge of the multi-disciplinary, fast-paced,
large hydropower construction. What you bring
- To qualify for a student Co-op opportunity, students must be enrolled in academic studies at a post-secondary institution in
Canada and must be returning to school after completion of their work term with BC Hydro.
- Completed a minimum of 2nd year of civil or mechanical engineering studies at an accredited university.
- The candidate should be excited and interested in gaining hands-on field experience in construction at a BC Hydro
generation facility.
- Demonstrated technical writing and presentation skills, excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- A team player that is approachable, takes initiative, and is a proven problem solver.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License is required for this role.
- Students are expected to work at the job location for their co-op role and it is the student’s responsibility to relocate
themselves if necessary.
What we offer

- All positions will be hired first as a four month work term. For some positions, there is opportunity to extend, to eight
months.
- This position is headquartered at the Revelstoke Generating Station, successful applicant must be willing to relocate to
Revelstoke.
- Students are expected to work at the job location for their co-op role and it is the student’s responsibility to relocate
themselves if necessary. Please be advised that this role has been assessed as safety sensitive and pre-qualification alcohol and drug testing will be required as a pre-condition to employment.

Flexible work model role definitions:
Our four role types identify the degree of flexibility an employee could have to work from home based on the type of work they do. The flexibility for an individual job is up to the manager for each position and the operational requirements.
Employees also have the right to work full-time from the office if they prefer. All of our roles require at least some in-person time.
Field - No work from home option
Resident – Works primarily (4+ days per week) in the office.
Hybrid – May be able to work from home up to 3 days per week.
Remote – Works from home 4+ days per week
