Annual salary: $1,901.39 - $2,394.93 biweekly

The Grid Modernization team provides strategic leadership, governance, coordination, and enablement for modernization initiatives across BC Hydro. We work collaboratively with stakeholders from across the organization to advance an integrated vision for a modern, reliable, and customer-focused electricity grid.

We are seeking a motivated and team-oriented Co-op Student who demonstrates strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a variety of initiatives related to distribution automation, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), data analytics, program management, and grid modernization.

Depending on the successful candidate's interests and strengths,



responsibilities may include:

- Supporting distribution automation, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), and other grid modernization initiatives.
- Assisting with program management activities, including planning, coordination, tracking, and reporting.
- Preparing, analyzing, and reporting on data from various sources and databases.
- Developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards and data visualizations.
- Preparing business and technical documents, reports, presentations, and communications materials.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support process improvements and innovation.

Project assignments will be tailored, where possible, to align with the successful candidate's skills, interests, and learning objectives. As a Co-op Student with the Grid Modernization team, you will gain:
- Practical, hands-on experience directly related to your field of study.
- Exposure to utility operations and the evolving electric utility industry.
- An understanding of current and emerging grid modernization technologies.
- Opportunities to collaborate with engineers, project managers, analysts, and business professionals across BC Hydro.
- Learning and development opportunities, including networking within your division and across the organization.
- Insight into the various business units and initiatives at BC Hydro.

What you bring

- To qualify as a candidate, individual's must be enrolled and yet to graduate from a recognized post-secondary institution in

Canada.
- Currently enrolled in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering and have completed a minimum of second-year

studies; preference will be given to students in third or fourth year of study.
- Previous co-op, internship, research, or other relevant work experience is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.




- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with Power BI, SQL, Python, or other data analytics tools is considered an asset.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License may be required

What we offer

- As a condition of employment at BC Hydro, a background check clearance will be required. This may include: reference

checks, education verification, employment verification, criminal record check, drivers abstract review, and a drug and alcohol test.
- All positions will be hired first as a four month work term. For some positions, there is opportunity to extend, to eight

months.
- Students are expected to work at the job location for their co-op role and it is the student’s responsibility to relocate

themselves if necessary. Please be advised that this role has been assessed as safety sensitive and pre-qualification alcohol and drug testing will be required as a pre-condition to employment

Flexible work model role definitions:

Our four role types identify the degree of flexibility an employee could have to work from home based on the type of work they do. The flexibility for an individual job is up to the manager for each position and the operational requirements.

Employees also have the right to work full-time from the office if they prefer. All of our roles require at least some in-person time.

Field – No work from home option.

Resident – Works primarily (4+ days per week) in the office.

Hybrid – May be able to work from home up to 3 days per week.

Remote – Works from home 4+ days per week.
