This is a hybrid position for one of the top 20 accounting firms in Canada. Independently plan, lead, and complete small- to mid-sized audit and review engagements, while providing guidance, coaching, and support to junior team members throughout the engagement.
Plan, execute, and complete compilation engagements and related tax preparation during the assurance practice's slower periods. Draft corporate tax returns and prepare appropriate tax checklists. Prepare personal tax returns including gathering, sorting and entering client information into iFirm.
Recognize relevant accounting and audit issues from basic analysis. Understand the technical standards with the expected level of assistance and supervision. Begin to perform research and prepare more complex opinions for technical conclusions on client engagements.
Provide suggestions related to an assignment or project. Maintain technical knowledge – IFRS, ASPE, CAS – by attending educational workshops; and establishing personal networks. Public accounting experience ~2+ years experience with tax and audit Completion of a University Accounting degree and working towards obtaining their CPA designation Thorough understanding of ASPE, CAS and Canadian Tax to be able to complete the more complex areas of an engagement.
Strong commitment to quality and accuracy.
Possess strong project management skills and organization, with the ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Caseware, Jazz-it, Tax Prep, QuickBooks and Simply Accounting Though this position is predominantly remote you are always more than welcome to come to the office and meet fellow members of your team.
