About Us
At Nusens, we specialize in high standard structural restoration, building envelope rehabilitation, and specialized construction across Canada. We take on complex, challenging projects that require precision, sharp problem-solving, and no-nonsense execution.
A project is only as strong as the leader on the ground. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Site Superintendent who knows how to run a tight, safe, and efficient job site, command the respect of crews, and deliver projects on schedule with pride and precision.
The Role in a Nutshell
As our Site Superintendent, you are the captain of the job site. From mobilization to final sign-off, you will lead daily site operations, manage trade partners, enforce strict safety standards, coordinate material deliveries, and ensure every detail matches the drawings and engineering specs. If you thrive on the ground, love solving site bottlenecks before they become costly delays, and take genuine pride in building things the right way, you’ll fit right in.
What You’ll Actually Be Doing
1. Site Leadership & Daily Operations
- Direct, organize, and supervise all daily on-site activities of internal crews
- Plan 2-to-3-week look-ahead schedules, anticipate logistical challenges, and keep work moving forward without downtime.
- Run daily morning huddles, toolbox talks, and coordinate trade handoffs on active work zones.
- Maintain clear daily site logs, including crew counts, weather conditions, deliveries, inspections, and project progress notes.
1. Quality Control & Technical Execution
- Review architectural drawings, structural specs, and shop drawings to ensure field execution is 100% compliant.
- Conduct regular quality walkthroughs, manage deficiencies actively throughout the project lifecycle, and oversee inspections.
1.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Champion a zero-compromise safety culture on-site in strict accordance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and company policies.
- Ensure all workers, trades, and visitors follow mandatory PPE, site-specific safety plans, working-at-heights guidelines, and WHMIS protocols.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and keep site safety binders fully audit-ready.
1. Trade & Client Relations
- Build positive, firm, and qualified working relationships with suppliers, engineers, consultants, and client representatives.
- Coordinate site access, staging areas, crane/hoisting logistics, and tenant/building coordination where applicable.
- Keep budgets, change orders, and schedule milestones aligned.
Who You Are
- A Proven Field Leader: You don't manage from inside a trailer all day; you’re out inspecting work, coaching trades, and keeping momentum high.
- Firm but Fair: You hold people accountable to schedules, specs, and safety standards while maintaining strong, respectful professional relationships.
- A Forward Thinker: You spot material delays, conflicts, and weather impacts days in advance and already have Plan B ready to go.
- Safety First, Always: You don't let safety hazards slide because you understand the real value of getting everyone home safe every single day.
- Tech-Savvy Enough:
You can navigate mobile field tools, review digital drawings on a tablet, and shoot off clear emails.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years of direct experience as a Site Superintendent in commercial construction, structural restoration, concrete rehabilitation, or building envelope projects.
- Trade Knowledge: Strong practical understanding of concrete restoration, waterproofing, masonry, structural repairs, and commercial interior/exterior construction methodologies.
- Certifications: Valid Working at Heights, WHMIS 2015, First Aid/CPR, Supervisor Health and Safety Awareness in 5 Steps (OHSA)
- Technical Skills: Expert blueprint reading ability, strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code (OBC), and solid scheduling comprehension.
