Contracts Administrator Legal Reports to: Director, Contracts Operations and Administration Status: 6 month contract The Contracts Administrator is primarily responsible for drafting, vetting and negotiating assigned editorial acquisition contracts for trade imprints, as well as supporting Harlequin’s global editorial team and author community with payments, contractual and royalty queries, information and issue resolution. The administrator is responsible for drafting audio related contracts and acts as the primary contact for reversion related queries. Draft appropriate agreements using precedents, under the guidance and direction of legal staff and negotiate terms and conditions, as necessary with agents and/or authors in collaboration with Editorial partners.

Prepare, draft, negotiate, process and administer audio rights amendments and various other secondary documentation (i.e. reversions, amendments, termination) as required. Data and rights entry in the title management system. Process rights reversion queries from authors/agents and process reversion documentation, as necessary through the proprietary database.

Manage process for Author Estates and associated payment process. Collaborate with internal teams, including Contracts Administration, Legal, and Editorial on process management, continuous improvement and streamlining.

Experience working drafting and negotiating contracts A good understanding of legal principles and terminology,



ideally within publishing Excellent writing and communication skills Proficient in word processing skills and the use of proprietary applications, databases and IT systems. Harlequin is a leading publisher of commercial fiction and narrative nonfiction.
