Lookout Housing and Health Society Lookout Housing and Health Society is a charitable organization and social safety net that provides housing and a range of support services to adults, with low or no income, who have few, if any, housing or support options. We believe that helping people help themselves is essential in addressing homelessness and all the issues that surround it. Securing appropriate housing is the first and most essential step in achieving independence for individuals.

Part Time - Temporary until incumbent return We provide housing and a range of support services to adults with low or no income who have few, if any, housing or support options. Friday through Saturday Shift times will be 1000 - 1800 Hours Shifts are 7.5 hours in length The Cook reports to the Site Manager and works in accordance with the mission and philosophy of Lookout Housing andHealth Society including following Lookout’s Code of Ethics. The Cook prepares, cooks, and serves daily meals and isresponsible for ensuring availability of food and beverages for guests.

This position requires successful completion of respirator fit testing, as Lookout is COR (Certificate of Recognition) certified and must comply with WorkSafeBC health and safety requirements.



To ensure a proper respirator seal during fit testing and use, employees are required to be clean-shaven where the respirator seals against the face. Prepare, cook, and serve daily meals, snacks and beverages Ensure availability of food for guests after hours Maintain high standard of cleanliness throughout kitchen, dining, storage areas and equipment Work with and oversee kitchen volunteers Sleeping during shifts is not permitted. or equivalentcombination of education, training, and experience Must have current Occupational First Aid Level 1 and FOODSAFE Certificate from the Department of Health Experience with institutions or large organizations including experience with cost analysis and effectiveness Experience in menu planning and developing order supply lists Crisis Intervention Skills Training is an asset Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing Ability to work with disadvantaged and challenging adults in a diverse workplace Criminal Record Clearance – Vulnerable Sector Lookout Housing and Health Society is committed to empowering people from different races, gender, age, religion, identities and unique experiences.
